Vanisha Jilakar was born in Hyderabad but spent most of her professional career in Bangalore in India, where she taught piano lessons for students aged 5 to 50. Having completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music, Psychology, and English at Christ University, she moved to Plymouth in 2024 where she completed a Master of Arts in Music at the University of Plymouth.
With a strong background in music theory, Vanisha has played jazz piano in groups such as the University of Plymouth Big Band, where she was awarded “Most Valuable Player” in 2025. Currently, you can find her improvising piano melodies over jazz standards with local musicians in Plymouth or teaching at the Plymouth Youth Music Service.
