Jacob Tze is a multi-instrumentalist, music producer and sound engineer with a deep passion for helping students experience the piano as a living, expressive instrument rather than just notes on a page.
He began his musical journey in Hong Kong, completing his primary and secondary education at a dedicated music school, where he studied music for 12 years. During this time, he achieved his Grade 8 qualification in piano, alongside learning drums, violin and guitar—developing a broad, practical understanding of music from multiple perspectives.
Jacob later graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Music and Music Technology, where he explored performance, composition, production and the technical side of sound. Alongside his studies, he gained extensive band performance experience on keyboard, drums and guitar, primarily in worship settings, regularly playing in live ensembles and accompanying other musicians and singers.
Now working as a music producer and sound engineer, and part-time at Trent Vineyard in sound production, Jacob brings real-world musical insight into his teaching. His approach focuses on understanding harmony, scales and structure in a way that empowers students to play confidently by ear, improvise, and adapt to different musical situations—whether that’s playing with a band, accompanying others, or simply enjoying music at home.
Jacob is passionate about helping students build skills that last a lifetime, encouraging them to explore the music they love while gaining the tools to truly unlock the keyboard.
